Are you a single parent on the Costa del Sol?

Hi everyone,

This is one of my very first personal blog post as a public message to all of our readers and followers of the blog, especially addressing SINGLE PARENTS ON THE COSTA DEL SOL… First of all, I must say that I am one of you… :-)

After 5 years of living in Marbella and trying so many different, short term jobs, I realized that I can not AFFORD any full time job in Spain: not only because of the small salaries, but also the working hours are impossible for a single parent like me… There are almost none existing part-time jobs and even if there are, with the part time salary, nobody can survive, unless they have an additional part time job or extra support or income.

So, it is a vicious circle and makes no sense… During one of my running sessions on the beach (when I usually get inspired) I got an idea to create this networking website/blog where I can work from home, express my love and passion for this beautiful place, attend my son and at the same time support all the local businesses in Marbella. Namely, it is a WIN-WIN situation for ALL. I am convinced that this is the ONLY way to move forward.

Being a single parent (I have a 12 year old son), I know from my own experience how challenging it is to raise a child and start a new business at the same time (especially during the current economic crisis). However, the great news is that even though I am just starting, WE Magazine from the USA included The Best of Marbella blog in the list of top 101 Women Bloggers to Watch for 2009:

I also received some inspiring e-mails from other single parent (Something Cakey), asking me to include her businesses on The Best of Marbella that spontaneously developed into a decision to offer special conditions for the promotion of all single parents on the Costa del Sol (part payment/part exchange) to support people who are in a similar situation like me.

Recently, I also found a very interesting website/blog that I can highly recommend to all working moms. Even thought it is in Malaga in CA, USA, the world is small. Thanks to the internet, we can all connect as one global family. Please have a look at this great website:
